Saving a DWG for the preview

DocumentsStep by step · 8
  1. Save the drawing in AutoCAD 2018 or 2013 DWG format, as files from AutoCAD R13 and older cannot be read.
  2. Run the AUDIT and PURGE commands and save the file again before uploading it, so no damaged or unused objects come along.
  3. Bind external references with BIND or eTransmit, otherwise they are missing from the preview.
  4. Export drawings from AutoCAD Architecture, MEP, Civil 3D and Plant 3D with the EXPORTTOAUTOCAD command, so their special objects become ordinary lines, blocks and text.
  5. Draw the content in model space, as the preview does not show what is seen through viewports on the layouts.
  6. Keep the file under 32 MB and save it without password protection.
  7. Filled areas appear as outlines and 3D solids are not shown, so please upload a PDF of the drawing as well when its appearance matters.
  8. The original file is never changed and can always be downloaded, even when the preview does not work.
